Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced a highly unusual alleged cure for the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) that definitely falls into the so-called “alternative” medicine category: cow urine.
The Hindu Mahasabha, a century-old group that promotes a system of Hindu nationalism known as Hindutva, or “Hinduness,” has officially declared, with Modi’s blessing, that “consuming cow urine and cow dung will stop the effect of the infectious coronavirus.”
The hard part, of course, is gulping the urine without getting kicked in the face.
Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, Hindu Mahasabha’s current president, has publicly contended that a “person who chants ‘om namah shivay’ and applies cow dung” to his body “will be saved” from the devastating effects of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19), thanks to the Hindu deity Shiva intervening on his behalf.
According to reports, “orthodox” Hindus, as you might call them, maintain a strong ideological bond with the swami, who also greatly respects Modi. They’re all on the same page when it comes to things like this, in other words, as bizarre as it might sound to the average Westerner.
Ever since the Hinduist Bharatiya Janata Party, of BJP, rose to power in India back in 2014, viewpoints like this one have been crystallized into the nation’s scientific approach to medicine and healing. For better or for worse, supposed treatments like cow urine and cow dung are now superseding what many in the West would describe as “science-based medicine” in India’s official system of medicine.
While we support many valuable forms of natural medicine, indigenous medicine and botanical medicine, cow urine as a pandemic cure seems more than a little bizarre.
What’s even weirder about the BJP’s ideologies is that they also coincide with some modern medical procedures, including test-tube babies and even plastic surgery.
According to Modi, the ancient Hindu hero Karna, from the third century B.C. Mahabharata, was “not born from his mother’s womb,” which in his mind means that “genetic science was present at the time.”
He also points to Ganesha, a famous elephant-headed Hindu god, as proof that there “must have been some plastic surgery, at that time, who got an elephant’s head on the body of a human being.”
Some news reports contend that Modi doesn’t actually believe any of this, and is merely using it as political fodder to rally his nationalist support base. Other bizarre claims towards this end include the idea that the Indians beat Pythagoras by 300 years “to the theorem that bears his name,” as well as the idea that nuclear weapons were used during the great war depicted in the Mahabharata.
Hilariously, there’s even the contention that the ancient Indians flew airplanes, even though there’s no evidence whatsoever that even hints at this possibility.
“India is on the path of destruction with Modi in charge,” says Mike “Mish” Shedlock of Money Maven, obviously discarding the cow urine theory along with the rest. “This is yet another example that shows the importance of separation of church and state.”
On the other hand, there is evidence to support other alternative treatment ideas for the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19), including oxygen therapy. New reports reveal that a Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) patient from South Korea is getting better following treatments with natural oxygen, as some viruses apprently don’t like an oxygen-rich environment.
Jeong Eun-kyeong, director of the Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told the media that of the 21 confirmed cases of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) in his country, only one is still in critical condition but rapidly improving thanks to oxygen therapy.
As far as we know, oxygen therapy is not currently being used in communist China, which is embroiled in a trail of lies over the true severity of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19).
